CooliX, a German manufacturer of digital transfer media, has launched BioFilm, a compostable DTF film made from 70% renewable materials (corn starch and cellulose). The film offers the same print quality as conventional PET-based DTF films, with a matte coating that provides excellent ink adhesion. BioFilm is available in 30cm and 60cm widths, in rolls of 30m and 100m.
The film is compatible with all DTF yazıcılar and powders, including Mimaki, Roland, Epson'un, and Audley. Pricing is $0.25 per square foot, approximately 15% higher than standard films. CooliX claims BioFilm reduces carbon footprint by 50% compared to PET films. The film is certified compostable by TÜV Austria (OK compost INDUSTRIAL). After use, the film can be disposed of in industrial composting facilities, where it breaks down within 12 weeks.
CooliX also offers a take-back program for customers without access to industrial composting. The company has partnered with DTF powder manufacturers to ensure compatibility; the powder also needs to be bio-based for full compostability. CooliX plans to launch a bio-based DTF powder in Q4 2026.
Early adopter feedback from three German print shops shows no difference in print quality or transfer performance. BioFilm is available now for pre-order, with shipping starting May 2026. CooliX will demonstrate the film at FESPA 2026. Explore sustainable DTF supplies at Xinflying.
