UV DTF Prints on Food‑Contact Materials Receive FDA Approval

UV DTF Prints on Food‑Contact Materials Receive FDA Approval

Several UV DTF ink and adhesive formulations have received FDA approval for incidental food contact, opening new applications in food packaging and disposable tableware. The approved materials meet FDA requirements for migration limits of ink components when in contact with food. This allows UV DTF to be used for printing on coffee cup lids, takeout containers, and food trays. Previously, food packaging decoration was dominated by flexo or label printing, which are less flexible for short runs. UV DTF’s digital nature enables on‑demand customization for events, promotions, and limited editions.

For converters using Xinflying UV DTF printers, FDA approval is a significant milestone. It allows them to serve the large and growing market for personalized food packaging. Imidlertid, the approval is specific to certain formulations; printers must use approved inks and follow curing parameters strictly. Third‑party testing is recommended to ensure compliance. The FDA approval process is rigorous, but once granted, it provides a strong marketing advantage. As consumer demand for customized food packaging rises, UV DTF is well‑positioned to capture share.
