Brother International has introduced the WF-D700S, an A4 desktop printer specifically designed for dye-sublimation transfers. The printer features a built-in heated platen that maintains film temperature at 45°C, reducing ink bleed and improving transfer efficiency. The WF-D700S uses a 5-color ink system (CMYK + fluorescent pink) that achieves 98% of Pantone solid-coated colors. Print speed is 50 A4 sheets per hour in production mode.
Brother has partnered with Geo Knight and Hotronix to provide pre-configured heat press profiles for mugs, Platten, und Textilien. The printer’s 4.3-inch color touchscreen includes guided workflows for common substrates. Pricing is $1,099, including a starter ink set. Refill cartridges cost $35 each and yield 400 full-coverage prints. The WF-D700S also supports printing on sublimation paper up to 300gsm.
Brother offers a free one-year subscription to their Design&Print software, which includes 5,000+ templates for gifts and apparel. The printer is compatible with both Windows and macOS, and includes USB and Wi-Fi connectivity. Brother’s proprietary ink formulation produces minimal residue on heat press platens, reducing cleaning frequency.
