Roland DG has released a UV-DTF starter kit aimed at small businesses and home-based creators. The kit includes the Versa STUDIO BD-12 desktop UV printer, 20 sheets of UV-DTF A print film, 20 sheets of UV-DTF B transfer film, a manual roller applicator, and a one-year license of Versa Works 6 RIP programvara. UV-DTF (UV direct-to-film) allows users to print full-color graphics on UV-curable ink, then transfer them onto hard surfaces such as glass, metall, akryl, and plastic without a heat press.
The BD-12 is a compact flatbed printer with a 12-inch print area and 1,440 DPI -upplösning. It uses ECO-UV 5 inks that are GREEN GUARD Gold certified for low emissions. The starter kit is priced at $4,995, approximately 60% lower than entry-level UV flatbed printers, making UV-DTF accessible to Etsy sellers and promotional product decorators.
Roland DGA’s product manager, Philip Chu, stated: “We’ve seen explosive demand for UV-DTF from crafters who want to personalize tumblers, telefonfodral, and laptop covers. The BD-12 starter kit removes the guesswork – we provide matched films, bläck, and application tools.” The kit includes a step-by-step video training series and access to Roland’s online community. Early reviewers note that the transfer strength exceeds 500 rub cycles on stainless steel water bottles.
The only limitation is the 12-inch print area, but Roland plans to release a 24-inch UV-DTF kit in Q3 2026. The kit is available now through authorized Roland dealers. For businesses already owning a BD-12, the films and applicator can be purchased separately for $299. This launch positions Roland as a key player in the entry-level UV-DTF market.
