Antimicrobial Digital Printing Inks Developed for Healthcare Textiles

New antimicrobial digital printing inks have been developed for healthcare textiles, capable of killing 99.9% of bacteria on contact. The inks contain silver ions or quaternary ammonium compounds embedded in the resin, which remain active after curing. They are compatible with DTG, DTF, and sublimation printing, allowing hospitals and clinics to produce custom‑printed scrubs, patient gowns, and linens with built‑in antimicrobial protection. The inks meet ISO 22196 standards for antibacterial activity and have been tested for 50+ laundry cycles without significant loss of efficacy.

For print shops using Xinflying DTF printers or DTG printers, the antimicrobial inks open a new vertical: healthcare textiles. Hospitals are increasingly adopting custom‑printed garments for infection control and patient identification. The premium pricing for antimicrobial prints can be 2–3 times higher than standard prints. However, the inks require careful handling and are more expensive (about 30–50% higher). Proper training is essential to ensure consistent application. As healthcare‑acquired infections remain a concern, demand for antimicrobial textiles is expected to rise, benefiting early‑adopter print shops.
